Celebrating the Drivers Who Keep America Moving

Every day, millions of miles are driven to keep our communities, businesses, and supply chains moving. Behind those miles are the truck drivers who make it all possible. ATA’s National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (September 13-19, 2026) is a chance to recognize the people who spend long days and nights behind the wheel, helping keep businesses running and communities supplied. 

“Truck driving is more than getting from one destination to another. Drivers navigate long hours, changing road and weather conditions, tight schedules, and time away from home, all while making sure the goods we rely on get where they need to go,” said Patrick Duan, CEO of RIDE. From food and medical supplies to building materials and everyday products, truck drivers play an important role in keeping the country moving.

As commercial transportation continues to evolve, the technology around these drivers is changing too. Fleets are exploring new vehicle technologies, including battery-electric trucks, as they look for ways to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, and meet changing transportation needs. But no matter what technology is powering the vehicle, the driver is still a big part of the equation. Driver experience, comfort, safety, and confidence all matter when putting new vehicles and technologies into service.
